Coach Edwin Salazar

The Coach

Development before drills.

Edwin Salazar is the founder and head coach of Train to Play the Game. His work centers on developing female soccer players through training that reflects the decisions, pressure, movement, and problems they face in real matches.

Rather than building sessions around isolated repetitions, TTPTG challenges players to read the game: protect the ball, recognize and take space, understand pressure, defend with purpose, and make decisions based on the players around them.

Edwin also serves as Head Coach of the Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Girls Varsity Soccer program and Head Coach of the school's Girls Flag Football program. He holds a Master's degree in Sports Science and brings that background into the technical, tactical, athletic, and developmental side of training.

The TTPTG Approach

Develop. Understand. Compete.

Game Intelligence

Players learn to read pressure, recognize space, understand opponents, and make better decisions at game speed.

Both Sides of the Ball

Development includes attacking and defending. Complete players must understand what the game requires in every moment.

Player Development

The focus is long-term growth: helping players build the understanding and tools needed to compete at increasingly demanding levels.

Sports Science

A Master's degree in Sports Science supports a training approach that connects technical, tactical, athletic, and developmental work.

Why TTPTG

“We don't just train players. We develop them.”

Players who have trained with Edwin have progressed into highly competitive club environments, including ECNL and national identification settings. The goal is not to manufacture a highlight in training. It is to prepare a player to solve the game for herself.
